Acceptance
By using Kodo, whether that means running the free check on the home page or paying for a Watch, Grow, or Win subscription, you accept these terms. If you don't agree with any part of them, please don't use the service. These terms work together with our privacy policy, which explains what we do with the small amount of data we collect.
If you are using Kodo on behalf of a business, you confirm that you have the owner's permission to do so. One person, one account. You are the human responsible for everything that happens under your login.
What Kodo is
Kodo is a service that checks whether AI assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Perplexity, Apple Maps, Siri, and a few others) mention a local business when neighbors ask for a recommendation. We ask the assistants the kinds of questions a real customer would ask, watch what comes back, and turn that into a plain English report.
We do not control what the AI assistants say. We do not promise that any assistant will recommend your business. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with OpenAI, Google, Apple, Anthropic, xAI, Perplexity, Meta, or any other company whose product we query. Our job is to ask the questions on your behalf and report the answer honestly.
Accounts
The free check does not require an account. Paid subscriptions do. When you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your password and email secure. If somebody else logs into your account, that is treated as you. If you think your account has been compromised, write to us at [email protected] and we will help you lock it down.
One account per human. Sharing logins inside a small team is fine in practice, but the named account holder is on the hook for the bill and for what happens under that login. If you are an agency or consultant who needs to manage multiple businesses, get in touch and we will set up the right structure for you.
Payment
Paid plans are billed monthly in US dollars through Stripe. The prices are the ones shown on the pricing page: Watch at $19 a month, Grow at $39 a month, Win at $79 a month. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each monthly period until you cancel.
You can cancel any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, so you keep access until the date your next renewal would have happened. We do not give partial refunds for the unused part of a month unless local law requires it. If you were charged by mistake (a duplicate charge, a glitch on our end), write to us and we will fix it.
If we ever change our prices, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies to your account. You can cancel during that window if you don't want the new price.
Acceptable use
A short list of things you agree not to do with Kodo:
- Don't run checks for businesses you don't own or have permission to represent.
- Don't scrape Kodo, mirror it, or repackage our reports as your own product.
- Don't try to break our authentication, probe for vulnerabilities without permission, or knock the service offline.
- Don't use Kodo to harass competitors, generate fake reviews, or manipulate AI assistants in a way that breaks their terms.
- Don't use Kodo for anything illegal where you live or where we operate.
If you find a security issue, we want to hear about it. Email [email protected] and we will work with you in good faith.
Your content
The business information you give us (name, city, website, the searches you want us to track) belongs to you. By using Kodo, you give us permission to use that information for the limited purpose of delivering the service: running checks, generating your report, emailing you alerts on paid plans, and improving the way Kodo works in general. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.
Our content
Kodo, the Kodo name, the logo, the dashboard, the wording of our reports, the way we score AI visibility, the prompts we use behind the scenes, and the software that runs the whole thing are owned by Kodo Inc. You get a license to use the service for your business. You do not get a license to copy, resell, or build a competing product out of what we have made.
Third-party services
Kodo runs on top of a small set of trusted services. Stripe handles billing. Clerk handles login. Resend sends your email. Vercel hosts the site. The AI assistant queries go to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, and Perplexity. Their terms apply where they touch your use of Kodo, and we choose them carefully so that the chain stays solid. If one of them goes down, parts of Kodo may go down with it, and we will tell you what is happening.
Disclaimers
Kodo is provided as is. We work hard to keep it accurate and useful, but we cannot promise:
- that any particular AI assistant will recommend your business after you use Kodo,
- that AI assistant behavior will stay the same over time (it changes constantly),
- that the service will be available every minute of every day,
- that every recommendation in your report will be the right call for your specific situation.
Use the report as informed guidance, not a guarantee. If a recommendation feels wrong for your business, trust your gut and skip it.
Liability
If something goes wrong and we are legally responsible, our total liability to you is limited to whichever is greater of: the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months, or $100. We are not responsible for indirect, consequential, or special damages such as lost profits, lost customers, or lost goodwill. This limit applies as far as the law where you live allows. Some places give consumers stronger rights, and where they do, those rights override this paragraph.
Termination
You can close your account or cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings, or by emailing [email protected]. We will stop charging you at the end of your current billing period.
We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms. For ordinary violations we will give you notice and a chance to put things right. For serious abuse (scraping, harassment, fraud, anything illegal), we may suspend the account immediately. After termination, we delete your account data within 30 days unless you ask us to delete it sooner or you have a legitimate reason to ask us to keep it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. Any dispute we cannot work out between us will be handled by the state or federal courts of Delaware. Where local consumer law in your country or state gives you a stronger right, that local right still applies.
Changes
We will update these terms from time to time as the service changes. The latest version always lives at this URL, with the "Last updated" date at the bottom. If we make a material change (something that affects your rights or your bill), we will email you before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Kodo after a change means you accept the new version.
Contact
Questions about these terms? Write to [email protected]. A human reads every email and we try to reply within one business day.
Kodo is a small team. These terms are written in plain English to be clear, not to dodge anything. They are not legal advice, and they are not a substitute for talking to a lawyer about your specific situation.
Last updated: 28 May 2026
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your account settings any time. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, then stops. No phone call, no retention email, no friction.
Do you offer refunds?
We do not give partial refunds for the unused part of a month, unless your local law requires it. If you were charged by mistake (a duplicate charge or a glitch), write to [email protected] and we will fix it right away.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
We delete your account data within 30 days of cancellation. If you want it deleted sooner, just email us and we will do it. If you want to keep your reports, export them from your dashboard before you cancel.
Are these terms enforceable in my country?
These terms are governed by Delaware law, but local consumer protections where you live still apply on top. If a clause here gives you fewer rights than your local law, your local law wins for that clause.
How do I contact Kodo about the terms?
Write to [email protected]. A human reads every email and we try to reply within one business day. We are a small team, so you will get a real answer, not a ticket number.
